Writing an eBook can be exciting, but also can be a discouraging experience.  For many writers writing a book is not difficult but selling online can be hard. Yes! you can sell your eBook on your own website and to affiliate product for other bloggers is an option too, but what about Amazon, if you able to sell your eBook on Amazon?

To buy and sell books online, Amazon is the best place because it has millions of users around the world.

Amazon accepts only Kindle formats of eBooks, this may be the difficult process for you to convert your eBook to Kindle format, but this could be surprising for you to hear that Amazon will convert your ebook automatically to required format… sounds good??

Ok! At Amazon, ebook selling is not as difficult as it first sounds. You will, however, be pleased to hear that for selling your eBook there are actually only a few simple steps that you need to take for that.

So! Let's start understanding these simple steps.

Create an Amazon KDP Account

The first thing you have to do is open up a KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) account with Amazon. 

You can sign up for this for free at the following link – https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/signin (If you already have an account with Amazon, you can use the same login details.

Don’t worry if your eBook is not in Kindle format, you still need to sign up.  Your eBook will be converted to Kindle at a later point.

Once you are all signed up, you take your “Bookshelf”.  There you have to make list of all the books that you have available for sale on Amazon.  This will obviously be empty right now but after some time it will not when you finish uploading your own eBook.

Second step is to add Your eBook To The Bookshelf. Just click on this button “Add New Title” In the top left corner of your KDP account, it will take you to the page where you can start entering all the details of your book.

On this page most of the fields are self-explanatory but don’t worry there are prompts to give you some direction if you are confused. 

You just make sure that you fill in each of the sections much detail as appropriate about your book.

At first, where it is titled ‘Enter Your Book Details’, you will see an option to add an ISBN (International Standard Book Number), It is “optional” in my opinion, I read everywhere It is said you needed an ISBN number and I didn’t think It is much important to get your e-book listed.

If you do not have this number, simply leave it blank, You DO NOT NEED an ISBN number to sell you e-book on Amazon! 

If you are self-publishing your book, you need to enter your own name into required field.

Choose the relevant category for your e-book and to help customers in finding your book use specific Keywords.

Then you have to upload a cover image of your eBook.  This image will be shown on Amazon’s sale page, so spend some time on it and set it cleverly. If you don’t know how to make the cover image attractive you could hire someone to do it for you. You can find plenty of people on Fiverr who can design covers for only $5.

It is important that image you re going to upload should be saved in a JPEG or TIFF format and at least 1000 pixels on the longest side (height/width ratio of 1:6)

Now you have to upload the PDF or Word file and have Amazon convert it for you in kindle format you don’t need to get confused about it.

Confirm Your Pricing & Royalty Options

Amazon requests you to choose between two royalty options 35% and 70%.

For a 70% royalty option, the e-book must be in price between $2.99 and $9.99.  If you e-book is priced above or below this amount, you will need to select the 35% option you just have to choose wisely the amount of your eBook.

Wait For Your eBook To Be Published

Once you complete all the process above, Amazon will review it before they accept it for sale on their site. So just be patient this can take between 24-48 hours.  After approval Amazon will email you and send you the direct link where it is for sale, and finally you are ready to earn the Dollars…
